LSE have completed another
flood control scheme in Hampshire.
This is a historic cottage built
with Cob Flint and Brick. It
has flooded regularly over the
last few years. Some of the
walls were wattle and daub.
The daub was totally ruined
but was replaced using traditional
methods by LSE with materials
supplied by their sister
company The
Building Lime Company.
The
walls were all lined with a
ventilated cavity drain membrane
system, this allows the walls
to breathe while controlling
damp and water and protecting
the decorative surfaces.
Drainage was installed at the
foot of the walls both inside and
outside.
LSE Waterproofing department are
working on a £23million pound
hotel development Near
Southampton in Hampshire. The
project involves three large new
build basements. LSE are
installing the Newton Cavity
Drain membrane system which when
complete will comply with BS
8102 and will be guaranteed for
a period of 10 years which can
be extended at the end of this
period if required.
The Site
conditions are wet and muddy. It
would be impractical to install
any other system in such
conditions.
LSE recently completed work on a
flooding historic basement. With
the minimum of intervention the
flooding was cured by the
installation of a fully
demountable waterproofing system
which contained the water at the
wall floor join by means of
Newton Basedrain channel which
channelled the water to a sump
and pump which pumped the water
away from the basement.
